Obituary for ROCHELLE E. "SHELLEY" SAGER

Rochelle E. “Shelley” Sager (nee Lego), age 62, passed away on November 30, 2019 at her home in Willoughby surrounded by family. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on September 29, 1957 to Don Lego and Vonda Mayhew.

Shelley was the beloved wife of Mike; loving mother of Allison and Andrew; cherished sister of Greg (Suzanne) Lego, Dave (Beth) Mayhew, Chrisa Mayhew; daughter-in-law of Waitman and Florence Sager; dear sister-in-law of Patty Flynn; aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Shelley enjoyed walks, drives and dinners with Mike. They loved family events with their kids Andrew and Allison. Shelley always stressed the importance of family. She loved spending time with her two brothers Greg and Dave and their families and visiting her family in Wichita as often as she could.
Shelley loved watching the Cleveland Indians, the US women’s national team, the Olympic Games and many other sporting events. The Hallmark Christmas movies were another of her favorite things to watch each year. There was also a good chance that if you walked into the house, Gilmore Girls or The Big Bang Theory would be on.
Shelley was an outstanding cook and dessert maker who perfected her Grandma Merrit’s homemade noodles with chicken over the years. She had a love for music (Billy Joel was her favorite artist) and she had the most beautiful singing voice.
Shelley was the most supportive mother of Allison and Andrew and had support and advice ready anytime they needed it.
Being the best friend and wife to Mike for over 33 years was most important to her. They always supported each other, built a bond that will last forever and left an indelible impression on their children of what true love means.
Shelley was the most impressive pancreatic cancer patient. Her attitude remained upbeat and positive throughout the journey without complaining about the pain and problems of fighting this awful disease. Everyone feels blessed to have had her for almost a year and a half while she battled. Shelley was a humble, compassionate, giving and loving person who will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, 37433 Euclid Ave. in Willoughby on Wednesday December 4th for a celebration of life from 4-7 PM with a memorial service following at 7 PM.

Private inurnment at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Ste. 200 Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
